Hirslanden AG, based in Zurich, is the leading private hospital group in Switzerland with 17 hospitals in 10 cantons, 5 outpatient surgery centers, various radiology institutes and more than 2,500 specialists under its roof.
In 2015, the Executive Board of the Hirslanden Group developed the new Strategy 2020, which provided for the introduction of a new operating model (process, organization and ICT model) for all processes relating to the administrative handling of your business in order to realize synergy effects with shared services.
Goal
As part of the HIT2020 project, the administrative support processes were to be standardized and harmonized wherever possible in order to enable the automation of process flows with a uniform ICT platform and to be able to realize synergies/scale effects. A uniform organizational model should also create the conditions for the comparability of the key performance indicators of the clinics and the other business units in order to further optimize performance.
In Panoff Consulting, the Hirslanden Group found a partner with extensive experience in the implementation of overall transformations (processes, organization, ICT systems). An important advantage in the complex world of healthcare.
Main challenges and contribution of
Panoff Consulting
- Overall responsibility for the design, development and implementation/commissioning of the new operating model for the processes "Record-to-Report" (finance & controlling), "Patient admission to receipt of payment" (registration, service recording, invoicing, fee processing, receipt of payment), "Purchasing & Logistics" (master data management, purchasing, logistical distribution of goods, integration of service recording, inventory management)
- Change management support and implementation of the organization, as the clinics had to transfer certain processes to central processing with HIT2020 (finance, accounts receivable and payable management, asset accounting, controlling, invoicing, fee processing, strategic purchasing/category management, master data management, cash management, etc.).

Panoff Consulting
Panoff Consulting realized the new operating model together with Hirslanden and has successfully implemented it in 12 of the 17 business units to date. The main results achieved are
- Transparent, comparable data and structures thanks to a uniform process, organization and ICT model
- Reduction of complexity in the ICT landscape through a standardized platform
- Increasing data quality throughout the entire process
- Long-term improvement of performance in certain administrative areas (e.g. accounts payable)
- Faster realization of improvements in ICT systems and processes
- Active change management at all levels (operations, management)
